Between the Status Quo and Withdrawal: NATO´s Nuclear Future

The leaders of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are about to gather for the Alliance´s Chicago summit in few weeks’ time. Beyond the most heated issues on the summit´s program, such as the continuing Eurozone crisis, the last phase of the war in Afghanistan and the growing Iranian nuclear challenge, another expected outcome of the summit is the conclusion of NATO´s Deterrence and Defense Posture Review (DDPR) which aims to provide a road map addressing the key questions regarding the future role of nuclear weapons in NATO´s policy.
